Rising Star Summer Awards
At the end of each summer session, THE RISING STAR BASKETBALL SCHOOL honors the players for their hard work, positive attitude and strong performance with an AWARD CEREMONY in which the entire camp gathers for the last time. Family and friends are always welcome! We feel this is an important way to wrap up the week recognizing successful teams and individuals who have distinguished themselves and help make the week a great success.
Our camp is divided into 3-4 divisions. NBA is the oldest division for players ages 16-18. The Big East is for ages 14-15, the ACC for ages 11-13, and the Ivy League for ages 9-11. We try to put our players in the best environment possible so the get the most out of the week.
Each day we honor CAMPER OF THE DAY for the player who exhibits all of the qualities we look for in our campers. Great hustle, attitude , teamwork and respect of fellow teammates and coaches are the main criteria. The coaches in each division pick the winner. A player is recognized each day after lunch with a certificate, Rising Star Pen and the chance to shoot for a free lunch!. These players are asked to stand and be recognized during the ceremony.
We give awards to the winning teams in each division. We encourage teamwork and camaraderie each and every day. Every team makes the playoffs and our championship game is usually the hardest fought contest of the week. During the ceremony individual players are called up to the awards table and are presented a medallion by their coach and the director. All Stars and Individual Awards are voted on Friday of each week by the coaches. This is often a very difficult decision and is not decided upon until the final game.
ALL STARS are selected by the coaches in the division for their outstanding player throughout the week. Coaches look for performance, work ethic in drills and games and a positive attitude each day.
Awards
ATTITUDE AWARD go to the player who throughout the week exhibits a Rising Star approach to every drill, game and contest. Coaches look for constant hustle, positive attitude and coach-ability
MR. STATIONS goes to the player who in our Ball Handling and Stations (game breakdowns) shows great enthusiasm, hard work and improvement.
MOST IMPROVED is an important award for our camp because it is the focus of our mission with each an every player. Coaches keenly observe and notice progress throughout the week
OUTSTANDING PLAYER goes to the player who has a great week playing on the court and demonstrates the attitude and work ethic Rising Star Basketball School stand for!
At that time the League Commissioner announces the All Star for each division. They are given a gift recognizing their accomplishments
